Congrats to Camille and Stephen!

I know it's been a while since I've last posted. I haven't been doing any flowers and it made me sad! But this last weekend, my old roommate asked me to do the flowers for her wedding. There was one catch...it was in Boise, Idaho. So me, being the crazy person that I am, picked up flowers in Provo from the wholesalers, made her bouquet and on Friday morning I took it to the LDS Bountiful temple, where she and Stephen were married. I then proceeded with $550 worth of flowers up to Boise, 5 hours away. I stayed the night with some great friends and the next day prepared all the flowers for the reception that night. Needless to say, it was quite stressful while I was just praying the flowers would stay alive. But I think they turned out pretty good given the circumstances. I took a few pictures of the flowers but I'll just give you a sneak peak since Camille's dad took some AWESOME pictures with his professional camera and he said he'd give me a CD with the flower pictures. I can't wait!

This was Camille's bouquet, that gratefully lasted 3 days!

(I just had to put this picture in since the temple and the day was just gorgeous.)

The reception was at this gorgeous place in Eagle, Idaho called Two Rivers Clubhouse. It was so pretty with fountains and ponds. I did two different centerpieces for the reception. Four of them were in these fishbowls and I used lily grass and cymbidium orchids. The other four were in this tall square vases with green calla lilies and lily grass.

The above was the boutonniere I made for Stephen. His had to be a little fancier than the 11 other groomsmen boutonnieres :)

(This one below was my favorite. It was for Camille's little brother--the "ring bearer" had to have one)

The above was one of the 7 corsages for grandmas and aunts. The below was one of the mothers.

The above arrangement was the centerpiece for the buffet/refreshment table. Below was the little bouquet I made for the book table which was also the bouquet Camille threw for her bouquet toss.

Camille's little sister was the cutest thing ever! She was one of the "flower girls" who got to wear a halo. But she also requested a "pretty flower bracelet".

This wedding was the first wedding that I did solely by myself. It was so fun to be involved with this great couple! Camille and Stephen, I wish you all the happiness in the world and thank you so much for letting me be part of your wedding!

Vacation Weddings

Yes, I had the opportunity to do some vacation wedding work over the past few weeks. But uh...I was the one on vacation :) I got to spend some time in Arkansas with my future in laws and future husband! It was such a fun time with that crazy family...they're entertaining to say the least :)

My soon-to-be mother-in-law owns a wedding/event rental shop so I was able to help out for the 3 weeks I was there, doing flowers and such. The main event we had was decorating for a baptist wedding. For the ceremony, we basically whited out the whole stage with pipe and draping. I put together the flowers for the aisle with some help of the girls.

The reception was all things bling. It was black, hot pink, and crystals everywhere! The most stressful thing about this was that 2 days before, we found out the bride never booked a florist, but never fear, I was there to lend a hand with some simple flowers that we thought turned out pretty good. These were 2 of 4 different centerpieces but they're the ones I did the flowers for.

I also got to help out at the shop with a few things. I put together 10 white centerpieces and decorated an arch for someone's wedding.

It was so fun to be involved in all these different things. I always love being a part of weddings and decorating from start to finish. It was fun to even have experience of sitting down with a bride and groom and discussing flowers with them! It moments like these that I know I picked the right career :)

Pretty in Pink

On Friday, I had the privilege of doing all the line flowers for the bridal party. The luncheon and reception was PURE pink. (Like someone had a bubble gum mishap all over the room :P).

I did 2 mothers corsages with garden roses, lisianthus, and stock.

The 3 grandmothers corsages were white roses, lisianthus and stock.

The Groom's boutonniere was a pink rose, a lisianthus bud, and green hypericum berries.

The 5 groomsmen boutonnieres were lisianthus and hypericum.

The 2 Father's boutonnieres were pink roses and hypericum berries,

The grandpas boutonniere was a white rose and hypericum.

The wedding was way fun to do. They had centerpieces that were different than anything we've done. Nannette made them her project and they turned out awesome!

Two Birds With One Stone

Uh, the birds at Sleepy Ridge are going to be the death of me! We found a few newly laid eggs in some nests close to the building. And these nests have guards. These birds are seriously mean! They dive bomb people every time they get close to the nests! And they actually WILL hit you...it's terrifying. One swooped at me today and I thought I was going to have a heart attack...or a really bad headache. Imagine my dismay when, as soon as I went through that experience walking into work today, my boss said I had to go pick up some flowers! I have to go walk back to my car, past the killer birds...not cool. But it was okay, I've just learned not to make eye contact ;) Also, I've found a new parking spot that seems pretty safe...for now. haha ANYways...

I'm pretty sure the cutest weddings I've ever seen were the weddings I helped decorate this weekend :) The first one was black, gray, and yellow. They had floating yellow and white Gerber Daises for the centerpieces, but I helped put together their cute candy bar and the hanging flower balls in our outside gazebo.

(They had m&ms, chocolate/candy covered almonds, licorice, mints, lemon heads, etc.)

(They had more flower balls, but these were my project :)

The second wedding was the most elaborate wedding I've helped with this summer. It was gorgeous! The bride's style was very vintage. Her colors were pink, blush, and champagne. I did the buffet piece, the center pieces and more flower balls! Secret sharing: we used some of the white flower balls from the wedding before since they both ordered them. shh! ;)

(This is the buffet piece. It's about 6 feet tall? No exaggerating! AKA my pride and joy. Comprised of curly willow, white and pink hydrangeas, white roses, and peonies)

(These are the centerpieces I did. They were supposed to be a much simpler version of the buffet piece. Comprised of pink and white hydrangeas, curly willow, and white and pink roses.)

This bride also had a ton of flower balls inside as well. I did the white ones :) Two are carnations and one is mums. One of the pink ones is carnations and the other one is stock. The stick ones have roses attached to them.

To see more pictures you should definitely visit nannettyork.blogspot.com. Hopefully she gets them up soon! I just barely emailed them to her :) I hate to put her pictures on my blog because I can't take credit for them! But I will add some of my favorites here. Just know that I did not have a hand in these wonderful creations!

(If these are the cutest centerpieces ever...they were used for the 'kids room' for the luncheon. Adorable)

(I really hope we get to keep some of these boxes, I thought these centerpieces for the luncheon turned out awesome! Credit goes to Nannette, her daughter, Cassie, and Sheri)

(This is the cutest mantle display I've ever seen at Sleepy Ridge. I may just have to steal it for my wedding! The empty picture frames and vintage vases are the perfect addition to all the cute details put into this wedding. Credit goes to Sheri)

Nice Day for a White Wedding

Last week I helped with flowers for two weddings! The first one was a beautiful ceremony and luncheon for a big Italian family. They chose the colors of the sunset and we had lots of fun with it!

Nannette, my boss, did most of the work with the mantle and centerpieces but I did the groom's and bridesmaid flowers and the gazebo.

The second wedding we did was on the same day! (It was a very busy Saturday). This one was a military (specifically Air Force) wedding, which was very interesting to me, only because my fiance is in the Air Force :) But they chose all their flowers to be white and "buttercream" which had a cute vintage look. I was able to do the mothers,

grandmothers,

and bridesmaids flowers.

This summer I've definitely noticed my confidence is a lot stronger and speed is a lot faster when it comes to floral designing. I remember the first day I worked for Nannette and she said, "Will you do the line flowers?" Of course I said yes, but I was super nervous and just kept thinking, "Real people are going to be wearing these and my work will be part of a real wedding!" It was terrifying but I obviously got through it :) Now I love being able to help with weddings. My favorite part is hiding in the floral room and just designing ;) It's so fun to be able to help with such a big part of someone's special day.

Buffet pieces and head tables

I got to Sleepy Ridge today and everyone was getting ready for a ceremony/luncheon. It was such a beautiful day and perfect for an outside ceremony! The wedding colors were also gorgeous: purple and silver. I got to help put the buffet floral pieces together as well as the head table.

I also got to help with the ceremony. Mostly I was in charge of starting and stopping the music :) but it's still fun to see ceremonies. It's the 2nd I've helped with this week. Anyways, hopefully I'll be able to be part of a consultation sometime soon!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

It's May already! Can you believe it?! I've been graduated from school for almost a month now and I'm back at my old job at Sleepy Ridge. I love it there! So far I've worked three weddings and done flowers for four of them. Tomorrow I'm going in to start helping with consultations! I've never done that before so I'm pretty excited.
(boutonniere I made for my sister, Kylee's, prom)

(Arrangement I made for Mother's Day)

I'm starting a blog so I can keep track of and share my professional experiences. I hope you enjoy it!
